D. For up to 3 points added to your final grade and a bag of potato chips, in our text Taking Sides select Issue 4 or Issue 19, pick the YES or NO side you believe in, and write a 750 word paper justifying your opinion. Do not copy from the text, but use the material to support your own point-of-view. Turn this in anytime up to the end of class to Roger Cram.

E. For up to 3 points added to your final grade plus a soda pop to enjoy in class, write about the prejudice and discrimination suffered by the Irish, the Italians, or the Chinese (select one) as they arrived in the United States and started the process of assimilation. Give specific examples of slang terms used against them, prejudicial treatment involving employment, housing, education, political restrictions and social acceptance. Use research not only from our text, but also the Internet or other sources. Give credit for source material. Not less than 750 words.
